Preparing for cosmetic teeth whitening can help ensure the best results and minimize potential side effects. Here are some pre-care tips you might consider:

PRE-CARE

  • Dental check-up- Before undergoing teeth whitening, it's wise to visit your dentist for a check-up. They can ensure your teeth and gums are healthy enough for the procedure and address any underlying issues that might affect whitening.

  • Cleaning: Ensure your teeth are thoroughly cleaned before the whitening procedure. Remove any plaque or tartar buildup by brushing and flossing (do not start to floss if you do not regularly as this could cause bleeding of the gum)

  • Sensitive teeth: If you have sensitive teeth, consider using a desensitising toothpaste (e.g Sensodyne) for a couple of weeks prior to the whitening procedure. This can help reduce discomfort during and after the treatment.

  • Hydration: Maintain good hydration levels, as dry mouth and lips can contribute to tooth sensitivity and drying of the lips. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment.
